News Release

 

The Miller County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes levied by 6.05%.  All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Miller County Board of Education, 96 Perry Street, Colquitt, Georgia on August 3, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Times and places of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at the Miller County Board of Education, 96 Perry Street, Colquitt, Georgia on August 10, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 19.626 mills, an increase of 1.120 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than the rollback rate of 18.506 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately $31.36 and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $75,000 is approximately approximately $33.60.

The Miller County Board of Education, does hereby announce that the millage rate will be established at a meeting to be held at the Miller County Board of Education on August 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m., and pursuant to the requirements of O.C.G.A. 48-5-32, does hereby publish the following presentation of the current year's tax digest and levy along with the history of the of the tax digest and levy for the past five years.
